Resources to
understand your Income

I have been an employee
for most of my life, assuming that doing a good job would result in
loyalty by the employer and my financial needs would be met. Of
course, I should have known better.
I did start in a
home-based business and generally followed the typical "harassment"
marketing of friends and relatives. I had the "why" and I worked
the business. What I did not have was the approach that fit my
personality, skills, and abilities. As a result, I backed into a
approach that is more "me".
That approach is
educational marketing. Provide the information and let people
make up their mind when they are ready. (Note: the USANA business
shown below is a different approach in collaboration with my neighbor.
She has an interest in the Civil War that we are incorporating with
her nutrition interests. You can see her "EvSays" USANA site
here.)
Does home-based business
work? (This is primarily direct marketing.) The answer is
yes and I know that from family experience. My brother and
sister in law and my brother in law have been very successful doing
home-based businesses.
Why does this work?
I think the primary reason is the fact that most sales occur as the
result of a personal referral or recommendation. Now sales do
occur from "cold calls", but I think those are the starter sales.
The real volume comes from people who know you and trust you.

direct marketing.)
The following table
outlines several home based businesses in which I am involved.
Each has a different mix of skills needed and cost outlay, and types
of income. Click on a heading to see a more complete description.
