Positioning Statement

 

Over the years we have seen a shift in the perspective of people and jobs. At one time there was a "Personnel Department", then the "Human Resource" department appeared.


Businesses used to partner with employees to carry out employees' career planning and development. Times have changed.

Now, businesses are coming to view career development primarily as the employee's responsibility.  In fact, surveys of HR departments indicates they consider Career Development to be their least important function. This correlates with recent trends of disappearing corporate career paths and job security.


I propose a new outlook, that of Talent Assets. While this term works from a organization point of view, I am stressing its importance to the individual. The individual has Talent Assets that need to be identified, developed, and employed.

Just as the responsibility for employee retirement planning is no longer a corporate function, the responsibility for learning and for the development of career paths has been downloaded to the individual employees.

TalentAssets recognizes that a person is a collection of skills, abilities, and experiences that represent their talents.  Those talents are the assets that a person takes with them where ever they go.

•  TalentAssets is a starting point for identifying, improving, managing and employing your skills and abilities.

• TalentAssets seeks innovative uses of its technology through business partners and affiliations.

What is TalentAssets?

I know the grammatical problem with the above, but in this case I am talking about the entity of this site.

After decades of personally following the line many of us were taught, that of get a good education, find an employer, do a good job, and be rewarded, I have realized that is not correct for nearly everyone.  The fact is that you are your own business, made up of your skills, abilities, and experiences.  You develop and acquire each of these.

TalentAssets was born from belated recognition of these facts.

TalentAssets is a source to help in the major aspects of identifying your skills and abilities, improving them, managing them, and employing them.
